The Game Fondspelet
Fondspelet, or Rahastopeli in Finnish, is an interactive game designed for smartphones. It was developed for a client in the banking industry by the content agency at KSF Media together with the service design agency Palmu. In this project I played an important part from start to finish.
The project was the result of a lot of careful planning. The client wished for a new way to communicate with their customers and to educate them on fund investing in a fun and engaging way. The game was to have a very low threshold and it had to be available in both Swedish and Finnish. With this as starting point I created a story idea for the game, which in practice meant that about 3-4 times per week during the game period the players got to read news, which gave them clues about what kind of moves they should make to ensure the best growth for their investments. I created the news for the game in close collaboration with the clients Chief Economist at the time. I was also closely involved with the marketing team producing launch material, as well as assisting in managing the social media account for the game.
Fondspelet was launched in March 2015 and was a success. We got five times the number of participants we were aiming for and our client got new fund investors. The fun, yet educational tone in the game even resulted in schools contacting us about the possibilities to use the game in educational purpose for students in economics.
